How to Send Cheers

Everybody likes to be recognized when they do good work. Our data has shown that people who receive Cheers are more central to the organization as a whole and show less voluntary turnover. It has also been shown that people who receive Cheers typically perform better. So basically, Cheers = longevity with the company and high performance.

It is always nice to receive TINYpulse Cheers, but you should also be sending Cheers, too! Not to mention how good it feels to recognize deserving people for their hard work.

Ways to send Cheers

Via the web app
 

Log in to TINYpulse whenever you would like to send Cheers. Send one from the main Engage page with the Send Cheers for Peers section. (If your organization has TINYpulse gift cards enabled, and you would like to send a TINYpulse gift card, you have to send it on this page.)

You can also send a Cheers from any page in TINYpulse with the Send Cheers for Peers button in the top right corner of your screen. All of your sending options are available in this button, so you can add photos, GIFs, and Value Tags, or make your Cheers anonymous or hidden from the Cheers Feed anywhere in the application.

 

Via the mobile app
 

Download the TINYpulse mobile app for iOS or Android and send Cheers on the go. 

Via Slack

 

If one of your administrators has set up the TINYpulse app for Slack, you can send Cheers at any time from the convenience of Slack.

If you already have the tinypulse-bot in your App list, just click on it. If it is not visible in your Apps list, but know that your organization has integrated TINYpulse for Slack, click on the + symbol next to Apps and search "TINYpulse". Once the TINYpulse app has popped up, click on the View button (please make sure it is the "TINYpulse" application with the description that starts with "Respond to pulse surveys").

In the TINYpulse-bot, you will see your active surveys and the options to send a Cheers and give a Suggestion.

To send a Cheers, click on the Send a Cheers button.

You will then be able to send a Cheers to anyone else at your organization whose email address in Slack matches their email in TINYpulse. If your organization has Value Tags set up, select one or more Value Tags to add to the Cheers. You can also choose to hide your Cheers from the Cheers Feed or make it anonymous in the Sharing options section.

Besides clicking on TINYpulse-bot, you can send cheers anytime, anywhere in Slack (yes, even private chats or private channels) by using slash commands.

Simply type “/” to start using slash commands in slack and you will see the suggestions/instructions to use slash commands.

 For cheers, we can use “/kudos [slack user] [cheers content]” to send a quick cheers and “/kudos” -> hit enter to open a cheers popup with full cheers features 

For these features we are not able to send GIF’S, GIPHY’s, or Company Integrations due to this being a text only feature.

Additionally, you can post your comments on Cheers if your organization's Cheers Feed is integrated with Slack by creating a thread. By checking the "Also send to # cheers4peers" box, your comments will be recorded in TINYpulse so the conversation is available to everyone, everywhere. This works vice versa as well. Post a comment in TINYpulse and it will also be posted to the thread in Slack.  

Via MS Teams
 

If you or one of your administrators have set up the TINYpulse app in your account, you can send Cheers in Teams. All you need to do is go to the TINYpulse bot in your Chat message history and type in "send cheers".

After you have sent the message to the bot, it will respond with a message that will allow you to send a Cheers to any email address that you type into the To spot. If your organization has Value Tags set up, select one or more Value Tag to add to the Cheers.

You can also choose to hide your Cheers from the Cheers Feed or make it anonymous after clicking on the Sharing options dropdown.

Do you need a refresher of the commands you can enter in the TINYpulse bot in Teams? Type in "help".

Note: You can include media like gif’s and pictures to your cheers by adding them together with the “send cheers” command to the bot.

Simply choose your gif using native gif selector of MS Teams, or copy and paste your picture to the chat box. 

Group Cheers: Allows users to send a single Cheers to multiple recipients as one message. 

Send a Group Cheers - TINYpulse Platform (Send Cheers Form)

• Send Cheers Form has a new checkbox "Send Group Cheers"
  • Checkbox is automatically checked when a user adds two or more receivers to a Cheers
  • User can uncheck the box, in that case it'll send a clone of the Cheers to all the receivers (same behavior as sending a Group Cheers now)
• When the checkbox is checked a new field appears "Name your Cheers Group"
  • This is an optional field to add a Group Name to the Cheers. By adding a Group name it'll display the name of the Group in the Cheers 
• When Group Cheers is sent it'll send only one Cheers to the Cheers feed

• Send a Group Cheers - TINYpulse Platform
  

• User can also send a Group Cheers in the top nav send Cheers form. The behavior is the same as the standard Send Cheers form

Send a Group Cheers - Slack

• User can send a Group Cheers in Slack by selecting the "Send Group Cheers" checkbox
  • This box can still be checked if there is only 1 receiver in the Cheers (this is a Slack limitation). In that case we just send a normal Cheers.
• User adds the optional group name in step 2 if the "Send Group Cheers" checkbox is checked in Step 1 
  • This is another Slack limitation, we cannot display the field in the first step
• All other behavior is the same as the TINYpulse Platform

Send a Group Cheers - Teams

• User can send a Group Cheers in Teams by selecting the "Send Group Cheers" checkbox
  • This box can still be checked if there is only 1 receiver in the Cheers (this is a Teams limitation). In that case we just send a normal Cheers.
• User has to click the "Group Name" dropdown to show the Group Name Field (this is a Teams limitation, we can't show/hide automatically like we do in TINYpulse).
• All other behavior is the same as the TINYpulse Platform

Send a Group Cheers - Mobile app

Update: This Group Cheers feature has been released to our mobile app, both iOS and Andoid, on January 30, 2026. Please update the app to its latest version to enjoy our new features.

• There are 3 cases for how we display a Group Cheers:
  • Group Cheers with no group name and 5 or less receivers -> Displays the individual names of all the receivers, separated by commas.
  • Group Cheers with no group name and 6 or more receivers -> Display the # of receivers as a link. This link can be clicked and it'll show the name and email of al lthe Cheers receivers.
  • Group Cheers with group name -> Display the group name as a link. This link can be clicked and it'll show the name and email of all the Cheers receivers

View a Group Cheers - Slack

• Just like the TINYpulse Platform we have the same 3 cases when viewing a Group Cheers in Slack
  • User can click the button to view the names and emails of the Cheers receivers

Additional Cheers Options

The two requirements for Cheers are to specify a recipient and write a message. However, there are some fun extras to make them unique. 

Add a Photo

Adding a photo to Cheers makes them more fun. Plain and simple. Take a moment to attach a nice photo for some personalization by clicking the Photo button. Cheers with photos also make your company Cheers feed look awesome. 

Include a GIPHY

Giphys make Cheers even more fun! Just click on the GIF button before you send a Cheer, then search through the GIPHY library for the perfect GIF for the recipient. 

 

Give a TINYpulse Gift Card

If your organization has enabled TINYpulse gift card and given you access, you will see a TINYgiftcard button. This is only available for Cheers sent from the TINYpulse browser version and in the Cheers send box in the Employee Portal.

Send Anonymous Cheers 

Sometimes you want to spread positivity without drawing attention to yourself. Generally, we think it is good for the recipient to know who the sender is but we completely understand if you want to remain discrete. If you check the Make Anonymous box, neither the sender nor your administrators will know who sent the Cheers. Your Cheers will still appear on the public Cheers feed and on any reports created by your administrator, but the sender name will be "Anonymous".

Note that if you choose to send an anonymous Cheers, you cannot attach a GIPHY or image. This restriction is in place to prevent potentially abusive or harmful images from being sent under the veil of anonymity. Also, be aware that abusive Cheers can be reported to us at TINYpulse to have them removed and investigated if they are threatening or harmful. If you are concerned about anonymity, take a look at our commitment. 

Hide Cheers from the Feed

If you want the recipient to see that the Cheers is from you, but you do not want to publicize it at your organization, check the Hide from Cheers Feed Administrators will still be able to see the sender and receiver, but it will not be shown on your company's scrolling Cheers feed, the Cheers Slack channel if you have Slack integration, or on the Engage Cheers feed if your company has it turned on.

Viewing Cheers 

TINYpulse offers many different methods for viewing Cheers: 

• Click the link in the Cheers email - You will be notified by email whenever you get Cheers. Just click the link to view it in TINYpulse.
  
   
• View your Cheers sent and received history in the My Activity tab - Once you have set your password, you can log in to app.tinypulse.com and scroll in your Engage page until you see the My Activity tab. This tab shows your entire TINYpulse history including Cheers sent and received, survey Responses, and Suggestions.  
  
   
• Slack — Your administrators can set up a real-time Cheers feed as a new channel in your company's Slack application. Check out this article to learn more about Slack integration or contact your company's TINYpulse administrator to see if this is right for you.
  
   
• Engage Cheers feed — Engage is the best way for companies to improve their transparency and give employees more visibility into TINYpulse. It also allows employees to see a real-time Cheers feed in their TINYpulse view so they can scroll through the positivity floating around whenever they like. Consider turning on the Engage Cheers feed if you are an administrator and are interested in becoming even more open and transparent by celebrating Cheers. 
   
• Scrolling Cheers feed — Administrators can access the scrolling Cheers feed which is perfect to put up on a public TV in your office. Employees can take a few minutes to look at it for a constant reminder of the good work that is being done, with a bit of extra recognition at the same time.

"Like" Cheers

If your administrators have enabled the live Cheers feed in Engage, you will be able to like your favorite Cheers! Just scroll in your Dashboard page until you can see the Cheers tab. Read through the Cheers that have been sent at your organization and click the thumbs-up icon if there is one that you particularly like. If you have clicked the thumbs up icon by mistake, just click it again to remove your like. 

If you are an administrator and want to enable Cheers "liking," enter your Admin view and go to Settings -> Platform -> Employee Portal and make sure the Cheers feed item is selected. The next time employees log in to TINYpulse, they will be able to see the Cheers tab in their Engage page.

Say 'Thanks'

If you have received a Cheers and want to thank the sender for their kind words, you can send them a 'thank you' email right from TINYpulse! If you're viewing Cheers in TINYpulse, just click Say 'Thanks'. Then, type your message and click Send Your Thanks and the recipient will get your message via email. 

This is just another way that TINYpulse helps employees spread positivity so do not forget to say thanks for the recognition!
 

Check out your Cheers network

Your personal Cheers network is a visual representation of who you most frequently send Cheers to and receive them from. Think about this as your "social" network at work. You can use this chart as a way to quickly see who may need your recognition and who to thank for their appreciation. You can see the Cheers network once you have an employee account. Just set your password then go to your Engage page to check it out.
